    Shane Heal's story is one of inspiration and gives hope to everyone who has a dream.

    The standard of excellence Shane Heal sets for himself on and off the court has seen him become one of the most provocative, flamboyant and charismatic figures in Australian sport.

    Shane's story is one of inspiration and gives hope to everyone that has a dream. He beat the odds to become the first ever Australian player to be signed to the NBA from the NBL, after standing toe to toe with the legendary Charles Barkley and the USA Dream Team. Shane scored 28 points and eight three point baskets in that game, proving to the world that with fierce desire and hard work, anything is possible. Shane played with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the San Antonio Spurs and is still only one of a handful of Australians to have forged a career in the world's foremost basketball league. Following the NBA, he played three seasons in the powerful Greek league and one in Italy.

    Shane represented Australia in three World Championships and four Olympic Games, including captaining the Boomers at the 2004 Games in Athens. His passion to represent his country and his ability to lead from the front was a key reason for the Boomers most successful period to date.

    As captain of the Sydney Kings, Shane led the franchise to their first ever NBL Championship, helping to raise the profile of basketball around Australia by taking an underperforming club to the top of the ladder. In February 2012 he was appointed Head Coach of the club.

    Shane has always been an entrepreneur and had built up a large business through fast food franchising, having opened more than 30 stores across six different brands. His company also developed property and performed store fit-outs and, at its peak in 2010, employed over 350 people.

    His business however took a major turn when his company was severely affected by the collapse of an ASX listed company in which Shane had purchased a 10 year contract. At 41 years of age Shane and his family are starting again; his story of working through the highs and lows of sport and business is fascinating.

    Shane has a relaxed style that is both entertaining and inspirational and an ability to relate to an audience to ensure that everyone takes something from his story, motivating them to succeed or inspiring them to deal with setbacks and tough times.
